Island Estate for Swat3. HELP NEEDED!

Sup everyone!

I am 90% done with my conversion of the RVS map "Island Estate" All geometry, static meshes, lights, and scenery has been completed to the tune of 35,000 polys. The map is very close to the original RVS map, I am using the textures from RVS and the majority of the objects within the map are almost identical to RVS, that is why my name is Copy-Cat. LOL

I am looking for someone with the knowledge and time to complete the AI portion, including waypoint nodes, threat nodes, and character starts. My talents limits me to 3d modeling only and I must say, you will be impressed, but I haven't a clue on how to properly place waypoints. I have attempted to place waypoints in the map, but I got the feeling I am not doing it right.

I wanted to take screen shots of the map soo far, but believe me its not your normal Swat3 map. I have included some static meshes that up until now, has not been perfected. Also, the map builds fine with no cell leaks, no problems building light maps, and you should not have a problem compiling using an  "ENTS only" build.

Anywho enough braggin, if anyone wants to help me complete the map, by completing this portion of the map process, please let me know and I will send you the files. Havent completed the Readme but I will surely include your name when the map is done.

Slippery_Jim has seen the map and was very impressed, he stated to me if I had stolen the RMF file from someone, LOL that give me the impression that the map is worth a look.

I like to keep open communications with those whom I work with, and I have the time and the skill to complete further fun maps, abandoned projects and map conversions. I really would like to see FurryCat, AA, and Don T Shoot back into map making for swat3.

Sounds like you had fun on the project.  But, I've never made a map. I never could make heads or tails of that map making program.  I'm 99% sure furry never made one either.  Sorry about that.

Thanks for the replies, is there someone you guys might still have contact with that could lend a hand?
I've seen you guys mentioned in a few maps, the readme files didnt really specify what part of making the map you guys had a part of. I'm sorry if I threw out a few names I remembered from readme files.

I haven't touched Worldcraft (or posted here, for that matter) in ages but I think I still remember most of the AI stuff. PM me a link to the files and I'll see what I can do - no promises on results though!

I managed to get most of the ai working good enough for a release. The Beta Release of the Island_Estate map is scheduled for release tonight at 10:00PM, once the map has gone thru blmaps and ai build. We will be testing tonight on a very easy to use VPN program called EasyVPN, the only configuration needed is firewall.

EasyVPN network: swat3
Password: lastresort

My current computer is building the Full build at around about an 1hr. each time. I have friends with 6 gig computers that are willing to run further builds that usually take around 15 mins.

Anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated, get on EasyVPN so we can exchange x-fire, and so I can give you TS details for DnC(Dazed and Confused).

Here are some images from the Island Estate map for Swat3....

Talk about some mad skills.....lmao






and yes when you shoot the piano it makes sounds..
and yes there is an easter egg...
and yes you can now enter the pool...
and yes all the furniture is in the map...
and yes "Ave Maria" plays in the background...
and yes the ambient sounds are there...
and yes the boat is an exact replica(3d import)..
and yes the light maps builds with no errors...
and yes AI is somewhat done and builds with no errors..
and yes the palm trees are 3d objects imported...
and yes I used static meshes for some of the small plants...




and here was the preliminary lighting for a night mission.... kinda SWEEET if ya ask me....



the public release will be soon. The beta testing is yet to be done. Anyone interested please see above post for info.

Ok... so we've tested and here are the results.

Problems (Severity)
1. textures dat file needs adjustment (Minor)
2. Some Lag outside, probably caused by no cells to seperate the outside areas. (Major)
3. Texture alignments (Minor)
4. Ai needs work. ai build takes about 13 hours to complete(Major)
5. Lighting adjustments. Slippery_Jim? (Minor)

I have several questions for all you map makers out there. These two questions are revelant to each other, so try to member.

1. Does the ai build take for ever to build because there are no cells dividing the outside of the house into sections?
2. and, Does the waypoint nodes have something to do with the lag?

One thing I was gonna try is using the visible and ignore attributes in the waypoint nodes to ease the build and hopefully the lag.

Anything you guys could remember would really help alot, thank you in advanced for your replies.

Since there has been no replies since I posted these two questions in 03-29-2010, I have decided to take it on myself to figure this out.
It seems that if ya' dont portal the outside area and generally portal off large cells within the house, the AI will take forever to build. Likewise the Lightmaps. (the map will be choppy as a BBQ joint on Sunday)

I appreciate the honesty within this forum and NOT lending a hand, it only took me 2 weeks to figure this out. I feel I am now fully trained in all areas to create new more exciting looking maps.

I have managed to reduce the ai_build from 13 hours to 7 minutes.
I also have managed to shorten the build time for the light maps to 384 seconds.


Now for the characters and mission objectives. I know that this is a simple task to do, I just do not have the creativity to come up with my own scenario, for this I asked a good friend of mine also an admin in my community to lend a hand. After a few errors I managed to fix the scenario he created.

The map is now complete and ready for public testing.

Soon I will post a link for downloading the map version .1 This link will only be available for a few days, since it is still testing.

I challenge anyone to complete the map by yourself, its very difficult and tedious. Shit. with 4 veterans we couldn't get past the front steps.

Sounds challenging? try it yourself!

I created this map in Late August of 2009 in an attempt to bring the Swat 3 community back together again.

The Story:
=========

Police recieved a call from the Freemans claiming gun fire and strange activity occurring at their place of work, an
isolated mansion near Briarcliff. The Freemans claim that several persons, male and female, have been seen through-out
the building armed with assault rifles.Currently, they feel captive somewhere near the "Guests Quarters" but if the
opportunity arises , they would try to escape. They also have informed us that 4 to 5 dignitaries were on the premises
and fear that their safety was in jeapordy. Mr. Freeman also identified one of perpetrators, Kevin Pambie.
 
Pambie has a prior record for small arms possession and a misdemeanour drug possession. Turns out that this small
time crimial just graduiated to the big leagues. Freeman claims he had witnessed Pambie off-loading large unmarked
crates from his boat into the garage. The AFIS database has several accomplices connected to Pambie.

Since we already know from eye witness reports of female suspects inside the structure, it's the departments policy
to take them into custody and not nuetralize them. So use your tactical gear and choose your weapons wisely.
This could become a major disaster if any female looses their life at our hands.

Neutralize Kevin Pambie and gain control of the situation. Locate and rescue all hostage and evacuate all civillians.
Eliminate all unknown suspects.

Recommended Game Settings:

Use Last Resort Mod and (RRTS) Complete
Although this map is intended as a coop map the large size of the house
makes it a very long mission.  For fun I suggest running random objectives and or filling the map up
with about 17 tangos and go on a killing spree.  Any more than 24 tangos
and you will almost certainly FAIL!
