Rainbox Six Vegas activation
« on: 2007-07-10 16:13:34 »

Yeh they can go fuck themselves on this activation system.

I bought the game via Direct2Drive.  I had no problems with D2D with ArmA so had faith it would go just as smoothly.  I installed RB6 no problem and played it for a few days happily.  My Vista took a shit on me and I felt maybe it would be smarter to go back to XP since I was more confortable with it and support is easier.  It should also be less taxing on my computer so goodbye Vista.

After I got XP up and going I had to go back to Direct2Drive becasue like a fool I forgot to save the installer files.  I waited about 2-3 hours for the download to complete, and started the install.

Once I got past the usual patrches and updates I was presented with the activation window.  the same window I saw a few days ago when I first installed the game.  I pressed the buttons it asked me to press and then told me my activation failed.

repeatedly.

UBI has no support contacts.  UBI's support site is totally useless and leads you in this tiny circle of links that never take you anywhere but 7 windows deep of the same crap.  When youu finally FIND the support ticket section of UBI, it tells you there was an unexpected error and to try again later.  I tried again later, and then later, and then 36 hours later.

Well this is fun, lets try Direct2Drive.  Their support system told me I need to disable my firewalls and to look at my account page for a manual activation number.

It's not there.  It's there for ArmA, but not for RB6

I submitted a support ticket and it's now 12 hours later.

When did I start actually buying games?  Using hacked versions is 90% easier and there is better support.

Unbeleivable.

(this rant was to just get it on the internet to possibly help others when they searched for UBI SUCKS)

Direct download is a load indeed.  Digital River, Direct2Drive, fuck 'em, go buy the damn disc.

I received a manual activation code and a apology from Direct2Drive 17 hours later.

Meh.

A 'manual apology' would have done the trick I'm sure.  "You want activation code with happy ending?"

I see your not quite related image and raise you this GIS for happy ending that doesn't seem to make much sense either.

Yeah, you could do that but I strictly use online shopping for all my bloody priest dildos and sacriligious partywear.

Agreed.  It's a long embarrassing walk to the register with a bloody priest cock in your hand.

(I get annoyed at the sound and total inconvenience of cds and dvds.  This is the digital age after all.   Games on USB drives, now thats something I could get behind.)
