Well, I wanted to wait till the game was at the virge of dying out and rotting away, to bring up this new gem. LOL (well I have others too)
It was quite simple, it took me days to troubleshoot. The game engine and Maya 6.0 both have their problematic statues and limitations.
The game engine will not allow me to insert objects above 8000 polys, which with the new mod from the swat3lastresort it would be a breeze.
The Maya plugin for gsm's has its problems too, you can't duplicate, copy and paste, nor mirror image no more than 3xs ; if you do, the gsm will be corrupted with extra attributes that will cause the game to crash or the game will display distorted polys. I have tried to delete all by type history, also I have tried to freeze transformations and then reset, before deleting history, and binding skin and exporting. Also during the copy paste, duplicaton will also duplicate attributes for meshes and textures, which are a bitch to remove without Maya crashing to desktop.(and that is on 3 gigz of memory)
The main purpose of the gsm plugins for maya including the skeletons are for creating characters, never occurred to me until I was overwhelmed with the graphics of ARMA and the realism of the trees and other objects that you can use these plugins and skeletons to create objects and import them into your maps.
If you want you can even export gsa's to sway trees, where you can animate sequences for when a player walks through bushes and ferns, figs and small trees.
