I will be in Phoenix, AZ next week and I have 20 days of holiday to burn.  If I were to prolong my stay in the US by a week or so would anyone like to meet up?

Direct flight in on Sunday then five days listening to the US CAD designers complain that their network is too slow then I get to choose my departure date and location.

Texas is too damn big to drive across so Longbow's place is out.  Northy should drive furry to New Mexico to have beers with Ghostrider.  Maybe before the beers they can all go and shoot stuff in the desert too.

Hmm, desert...flights to Vegas are often cheap... /ponder

Well, I'm around and it's a six hour drive from where I live to Phoenix.  Or a sub-$99 flight (each way) on Southwest Airlines.  I have a trip to Washington DC planned for October 23-29.  I'm running the Marine Corps marathon on the 25th.

With 20 days of leave, were you going to try to burn a lot of that while you are over here?  Or if nobody's around were you just gonna take off back to the UK?  If you're still in the southwest after the 29th, then I'd definitely be down for meeting.  If you could get out this way, we could definitely go shooting.  I have a bunch of .223 ammo but need some pistol ammo.  My buddies could get us onto the tribal police's shooting range or we could just go into the boonies.  Too bad you weren't here last week when we had our one big tourist event of the year, the balloon fiesta.

Where will you be staying?

Vegas sounds like fun, but I'm tapped out right now.  I've got a guest room in my house if you get over my way.

Let me know.

with close to 130,000 miles left on my continental rewards program, i could prolly get you a ticket to texas...  but don is right, texas is too big to drive across...  unless you want to spend 12 to 16 hours of your holiday in a car...

I won't be able to spend all my days in one go.  One week is probably going to be the most I can do.  Sucks on the timing for Ghost but if I aim to stay up to the end of October we can still blat off a few rounds.

I didn't even consider Vegas.  That's a good call.

How about Vegas on the weekend of the 24th/25th with whoever can make it, then something for the early part of that week then Texas for a day or two then Ghost Towers for the weekend.

I'm open to suggestions for the something part.  I don't mind flying around all over the place if it's only a few hours but heading west would cut down travel time.  On the other hand I have a perverse desire to do a Fallout 3 tour of DC and there's always New York.

*perks up* Did someone say something about guns?! And why does the alcohol have to come AFTER the shootery?
