Off to a rollicking start.  The patch hasn't finished downloading/installing after letting it run overnight twice.

Thats weird, mine patched and was good to go but I had that launcher issue, which did not resolve after I uninstalled, there is an issue with Win7 privileges, which I found the workaround. Sucks because I didn't need to uninstall, so it's downloading now.

I would say stop the launcher and restart it, it seems to slow down after a while, when you start it again it speeds up for some reason and keeps the speed for a while.

My wife's download stopped dead middle of yesterday, but that was because she ran out of disk space...

I'm having trouble now too, supposedly fully patched, restarted, needs to re download everything. I think the game is actually trying to patch it, if you succeed, it's like killing a boss in a raid.

[Don] did it from work and downloaded it so fast they canceled the Beta.

Only 2 servers PVE other 2 are PVP, Serpentis Isle is the one I picked, no reason.

I finally got it patched sometime Saturday and ran around as a sorcerer for a bit and then some on Sunday.  Fairly standard WoWlike MMO except it doesn't look like shit and the combat is somewhat better.  It's no Vindictus combat-wise or pay-model-wise but at least you can play as a gay little panda...

So how'd it go for youse?

Pretty well; we got to level 20 or a little past that. Most of that time was a group of me, Double, and the wifey (sort of, because she's horrible at keeping up).

So far the difficulty of combat has been either laughably easy or brutally intense, with nothing in between. We speculated that the easiness was because it was three of us doing quests that were meant for solo, but Double went back and easily soloed one of the bosses in a matter of seconds. The vast majority of enemies we encountered deal and take so little damage that you don't really have to worry about avoiding attacks in combat, which is the main draw. That said, we did run into a world boss of sorts that took several minutes to bring down with the help of a handful of random people that joined the fight, and resulted in two or three Doubletap deaths. We also just got a quest to kill basilisks, one of which took Double and me about the same amount of effort to bring down as the world boss, although I managed to keep him alive thanks to now having a direct heal spell. That quest is supposed to be a five man and it was just the two of us, though. If all the fights were even half as challenging as those last two, the game could stand on combat alone and be great.

The rest of the game seems pretty much like you said: generic cookie-cutter MMO. The quests are almost all "kill X number of Y," and the crafting is your basic "buy recipe, gather mats, go to crafting area, click make." I haven't gotten far enough into the crafting to see whether the crafted items have decent stats, because at least some of the crafting quests require an I-hope-this-is-bugged amount of resources as an initial investment. I pre-ordered the game because my wife seems to love it and we need something to play together, and in order to hold onto my beta characters for further testing. I figure it will be my MMO fix for a few months until Guild Wars 2 comes out, at which point I'll be switching, barring some epic fail in that game. Hopefully for the full release of TERA they will tweak the combat difficulty, or maybe things get more challenging later on in the game.

I noticed my sorcerer seemed unusually tank-like versus every enemy I encountered.

Basically, same thing Northy said. Combat went from Easy to OMGWTFPWNED. Combat is very active at least for me it was since I was Melee/Evasive Tank. I will probably Pre-Order and play until GW2, sadly think I missed the pre-order timer to keep my Beta dude, but oh well, would be nice to see what they tweaked int he noob zones on next beta weekend. I do however want to get a guy high enough to do some Dungeons and Group fights.

Also.................PC is HERE BIATCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I lost my Borderlands Data so I have to make a new guy...so if anyone is up for it.

Pre-order complete. This will tide me over for a month or so until I Pre-order GW2 and then do that beta and so on and so forth.

Tera will be in Open Beta soon, 4/20 weekend, pre-orders start the 17th, anyways. Just posting so those interested can keep an eye out and try the game out with [Northy] his wife and I. The more the merrier.
