Well, I don't know if I've mentioned this to very many of you, but I've been having problems with OFP ever since I patched it up to 1.91. What it does is drag like fuck. The cut scene on the main menu board runs so slow it's choppy. The mouse pointer won't track, it's jumping all over, and takes forever to do that. When I actually get to where I want to do something, it's an adventure just to get the mouse to point to the right spot. Nevermind the pain of joining games.
So, today, after barely restraining myself from taking a sledgehammer to my computer, I decided to undo that which had been done. I figured, in my anger induced fuzzy logic, that the best way to fix this was to uninstall everything, reinstall the game and repatch it up to where it needs to be. So I set out on this mission.
Well, uninstall went just fine. No computer that I've ever heard of has ever refused to get rid of any info, with the possible exception of a virus when you want rid of it. Anyway, on to the reinstall. Put in the pretty, store-bought CD-Rom. Click on the little install button. Type in my cd key. Click next. Away it goes, doing what these things do. Until...Error. Could not install "2-5_Cooperative.Eden.pbo". "Setup Not Complete. Application may not run properly." No Shit? Fucker. Retry. Same result. Check the disk. No scratches, smudges, nothing.
I'm either going to kill someone or blow my own brains out in frustration very soon. I shot off a rather delicately worded call for help to the techies at Codemasters, but have yet to receive a reply. Anyone ever encountered anything like this before?? With any luck (good luck, that is) you will not have. Of course, I don't have any. Good luck that is.
